Adding and Editing Download Pages

Once you have uploaded your book to BookFunnel, you will create a download page for the book. This is what your readers will see when they click your BookFunnel link.

A download page can require a reader to provide a valid email address BEFORE allowing them to download your book, or not. If you have Integration on your account and want BookFunnel to add new subscribers to your mailing list automatically, create a page that DOES collect emails.

Create a Download Page (That Does NOT Collect Emails)

Need a more detailed step-by-step or looking for answers to specific questions about this form? Find that here.

  1. Click the Add button at the top of your dashboard and select Add New Download Page.
  2. Select the book you want to send to readers from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click “No, just let them download the book”.
  4. Complete the form and click Save And Close when you are finished.
  5. Your download page link will appear at the top of the Download Page Details screen. You can always view and edit the page details by clicking the book’s title under Books and then clicking on the name of your download page.

Create a Giveaway Page (That DOES Collect Emails)

You can create a Giveaway Page, which will collect a reader’s email address before allowing them to download your book. Need a more detailed step-by-step or looking for answers to specific questions about this form? Find that here.

  1. Click the Add button at the top of your dashboard and select Add New Download Page.
  2. Select the book you want to send to readers from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click “Yes, collect the reader’s email address”.
  4. Complete the form.
  5. Preview your landing page and download page, then click Save And Close
  6. Your Giveaway page link will appear at the top of the Giveaway Page Details screen. You can always view and edit the page details by clicking the book’s title under Books and then clicking on the name of your download page.

Use Italics and Bold Text To Add Emphasis To Your Headings

You can add emphasis to certain words or phrases in your heading1 and heading2.

To use italics, add a * before and after the text in your headings or book description. Italics example:

She *desperately* scanned the horizon.

To bold certain words or phrases, add ** before and after the text. Bold example:

This baby needs a nap **right now**.

(The characters are only shown here to make clear how you should add them to your heading. They will not be displayed on the book page.)

Center Your Headings

To center your heading1 or heading2, use -= at the beginning of your heading and =- at the end. Center example:

-=This heading is now centered! Oh will wonders never cease?=-

Add Expiration Date or Download Limit to Existing Page

  1. Click Books on your BookFunnel dashboard.
  2. Click the book title.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to the name of the download page you want to edit.
  4. Add or edit the expiration date or download limit. A download limit is the total number of times the book can be downloaded. Example: A download limit of 2 means that the book can only be downloaded two times before the page becomes inactive.
  5. Click Save And Close.

Duplicate an Existing Page

You can duplicate an existing page, and copy your mailing list settings, layout designs, and headings to a new page with ease. To duplicate an existing page:

  4. The new page copy will appear!

Expire a Page

You can expire a download page if you want to make it inactive. You will retain your download stats on your dashboard, and readers will see a simple “expired” message if they stumble upon your link. You can customize that message if you like and point readers to your website or Amazon sales page, or leave the default text in place. An expired page can always be reactivated in the future.

To expire a download page:

  1. Click Books on your BookFunnel dashboard.
  2. Click the book title.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to the name of the download page you want to expire.
  4. If you want to customize the expiration message, click Advanced Settings near the bottom of the screen and make any changes. Click Save at the bottom to save your new expiration message.
  5. Click Expire Page or Expire Giveaway.

Reactivate An Expired Page

Have an expired page that you want to make active again? It’s easy!

To reactivate an expired download page:

  1. Click Books on your BookFunnel dashboard.
  2. Click the book title.
  3. Expired pages will be shown with a line through the page name. Click the pencil icon next to the name of the download page you want to reactivate.
  4. Delete the expiration date or change it to a date in the future.
  5. Click Save And Close at the bottom of the screen.

Delete a Page

WAIT! If you delete a download page, a reader will see an error when they click your link after it has been deleted. It is better to expire your download page, and add a message to the expired page which points readers to your website or Amazon sales page. Why send them away empty-handed when you could sell them something?!

If you REALLY want to delete your download page:

  1. Click Books on your BookFunnel dashboard.
  2. Click the book title.
  3. Click the trash can icon next to the name of the download page you want to delete
  4. Confirm you want to delete the download page.
