When you organize a group promo on BookFunnel, you can choose to block or moderate new book submissions, based on an author’s past participation in group promos.
Blocking a submission prevents an author from submitting any book to your promo. Moderating an author moves their submission to a waiting room where you can review their book before accepting or rejecting it.
Promo Submission Blocks
There are two checkboxes on the “Post a New Promo” form that will block authors from submitting a book to your promo. You will not be notified when an author tries to join your promo but was unable to do so by one of these two checkbox settings.
Block authors flagged by BookFunnel The first checkbox will block authors that have been flagged for repeatedly not sharing promos as agreed and authors that have been reported for abusing the Promotions board. This private block list is maintained by BookFunnel admins and is subject to change at any time.
Block authors who have been in X promos… The second checkbox can be customized. You can choose to block authors that have been in X promos with X average clicks (or fewer).
Block Setting Examples
This setting would block anyone who has completed 20 or more promos and received an average of 5 clicks per promo. This means that an author who has completed 19 promos, no matter how many clicks they received, would be allowed to submit their book.
This setting would block authors who have completed 30 promos and received an average of 3 clicks per promo. This means that an author who has completed 30 promos and received an average of 2 or 3 clicks per promo would be blocked.
This setting would block every author that has completed a promo and averaged 10 or fewer clicks per promo. This particular setting is very restrictive and you probably shouldn’t use it. Instead, try moderating instead!
Promo Submission Moderation
By default, every book that is submitted to your promo is automatically “in” until you remove them. If you would prefer a “waiting room”, you can add moderation to your promo. With moderation, authors that don’t meet your mod threshold will be placed in a waiting room until you review their submission and either accept or reject it.
Promo Waiting Room
If you choose to moderate authors in a waiting room, please review submissions early and often so that an author who is not selected can move on and find a suitable promo to join.
Moderation Setting Examples
This setting will moderate authors that have completed 10 or more promos and averaged 10 clicks per promo:
This setting will moderate every author who has completed a promo, but will accept brand new authors automatically:
This moderation settings will move every author submission to the waiting room until you can review their book submission:
